Fondé en 1993, le Festival International des Films de la Diaspora Africaine (ADIFF) a pour mission celle de favoriser la diffusion, l'interprétation et l'éducation autour des films venus du monde entier explorant la richesse et diversité du vécu des personnes issues du continent Africain et de la Diaspora Africaine.

The ADIFF was created in November, 1993 by the husband and wife team of Reinaldo Barroso-Spech & Diarah N'Daw-Spech on the belief that education is power. He is an educator in foreign languages and Black Literature and she a financial consultant and university budget manager. They are of the reality that film is the truest medium for creating a fertile ground for education.
The future of our communities of color is directly tied to the expansion of our experiences, the depth and breadth of our reach and interaction with other communities and the framework from which our talent can stand front and center. Our vision is to see an informed and talented community coming together to exchange ideas and strategies for improving our respective worlds.

Description: The African Diaspora International Film Festival (ADIFF) is proud of its history of firsts in presenting, interpreting and educating about films from throughout the world that depict the lives of people from Africa and the African Diaspora. The festival features world and US premieres, recent popular titles, classic movies, foreign and independent releases. Post-screening question-and-answer sessions and panel discussions that include filmmakers, critics, academics, and audiences present the most current discourse on filmmaking in Africa and the African Diaspora.

Timing: The festival begins every year on the last Friday of the month of November during the Thanksgiving weekend and runs for eighteen days.

Location: Various locations in Manhattan, NYC including The Thalia Cinema at Symphony Space, Quad Cinema, The Cowin Center and Chapel at Teachers College, Columbia University and the Riverside Theater.

Traveling Festivals: ADIFF holds festivals in Chicago in June, in Washington DC in August, and in Paris, France in September.

ADFF Cine-Club: Since 2003, the African Diaspora Film Festival holds monthly community screenings at Teachers College, Columbia University that are open to the public and have series that vary in theme.

Audience: Since 1993, over half a million people have attended the film festival and its related activities. ADIFF's media reach was over 15 million people in 2013.
