Tim the adventurer, Tim the wise genealogist of his village, Tim the perpetual traveler (the journey of the soul and of the body, in search of simplicity and of wisdom). Life for this artist is a struggle, a perpetual fight. The presence of Tim on the Burkinabé and international scene is indisputable; he is the living proof that Africa is an inexhaustible source of musical talents. Tim is an artist who tries to perpetuate the traditional way of living of his people by living it and keeping it alive. He explores the musical inheritance of the "SAMO", thus reviving the musical arc "lolo" accompanied with the kora, the djembe, the tama, the Guinean flute and electrical musical instruments. With his music and his fascinating dance that goes back to the dawn of time, Tim is telling us the story of the people of Africa, the future of the young people and reviving the legends where the richness resides in Man.
With his first Album Zessa, Tim shares with us the artistic philosophy of his remarkable work of creation and of exploration of his Samo inheritance.

Distinguished Burkinabe multi-instrumentalist, Tim Winse, became known through his mastery of the traditional Samo musical arch called "lolo". A native of the Samo tribe of Burkina Faso at the Malian border, TIM WINSE is considered nowadays an uncontested virtuoso of this immemorial instrument with hypnotizing vibrations reminiscent of humanities' origins.

Tim (short for Timbiri) completed his studies in Koudougou and moved to Ouagadougou in 1996. He soon joined various bands among which Benda Band. A year later his musical career will take a decisive new turn. Burkinabè choreographers Salia Sanou and Seydou Boro (members of the French contemporary dance company Mathilde Monnier) proposed him to join the company. Shortly after, Winse composed the score of "Figninto" performance which is awarded the second prize of the Interafrican Choreography Competition at Luanda (Angola). Tim performed live on stage accompanied by percussionist Dramane Diabaté. Conceived as a fascinating dialogue between musicians and dancers, this performance garnered international acclaim. It was presented on numerous stages around the world, in Africa, Europe, United States and Asia. Since then, Tim became passionate about creating music for dance performances. In 1999, together with Souleymane Badolo and Lacina Coulibaly, he co-founds a well-known Burkinabe company of contemporary dance: Kongo Ba Teria. In 2001, the performance "Vin Men", for which Tim composed the score, won a prize at the Interafrican choreographic Competition in Tananarive (Madagascar). Tim performed live again, not only on Lolo but also on Kora which he studied with the Malian master, Toumani Diabate.

In parallel with composing music for dance performances, Winse developed his own vocal and musical pursuits. Conscious of the richness of the Samo heritage, he decided to bring it to life through creating his own unique style, both rooted in tradition and open to multiple influences. Progressively, he created through research and work, his own brand name: the Wassamana groove. In 2000, after performing with the international musical collective "SONO DE VILLES", alongside Burkinabe musicians BIL AKA KORA et ISSOUF KIENOU, Tim decided to establish his own group: THE WASSAMANA. He is bringing along the best instrumentalists from Ouaga: Alain Nyame (bass), Ablo Zon (drums), Seydou Sangare (guitars), Ben Kporha (piano) and Simon Winsé (percussions). Later in 2004, Yassia Ouedraogo (percussionist), Nouhoun Ouedraogo (guitarist) and Ahmed Ouedraogo (bass) join the Wassamana. Together they created a unique style, a fusion of samo rhythms and modern jazz sounds, an original and unclassifiable groove. In 2003, TIM WINSE ET LE WASSAMANA performed on the stage of the festival Jazz A Ouaga drawing public attention. A year later, they released their first album "ZESSA" and launch it publicly at JAZZ A OUAGA 2004.

The Festival Francophonie Metisee hosted at the Wallonie-Bruxelles Centre in Brussels, Belgium in 11/2004 featured Tim Winse and Wassamana as lead performers. Tim Winse and Wassamana band have been named the "icons of the musical arch Lolo by the forum Babel Med Music (Forum des Musique du Monde) held in Marseille, France in 03/2005.
Les Francophonies en Limousin held in Limoges, France is a festival focused on musicians representing new generations of artists who stretch the boundaries of their art.
