Kaouther Ben Hania based in Paris for the last past 6 years studied cinema in Tunisia (EDAC) then in Paris (Fémis and la Sorbonne). She directed several short films including "Me, my sister and the thing" (2006) and "Wooden hand" (2013). Both films had a long and successful run on the international festival circuit.
Her last documentary film "Imams go to school" was premiered at IDFA 2010 and selected in many prestegious festivals (Vancouver, Dubai, Amiens…). Challat of Tunis (2013) is her first feature film.
Her second feature film, Beauty and The Dogs | Eft Hyati (I hate my life) was selected at 2017 Cannes FilmFest. In 2018, her third short "Les Pastèques du Cheikh" was selected at 2018 JCC (Regards sur le Cinéma Tunisien Courts Métrages Fiction). She was Jury Member for Documentaries at 29th Carthage Film Festival - JCC 2018, Tunisia.
