PW was set up by filmmaker Kivu Ruhorahoza in 2014 to produce thought-provoking films from East African directors. The company's first film, Things of the Aimless Wanderer, premiered at Sundance 2015. PW went on to co-produce acclaimed films by some of the most promising filmmakers from the region such as Amil Shivji (Fish of the Land), Tanzanian, Samuel Ishimwe (Crossing Lines) and Philbert Mbabazi (City Dropout), both Rwandan. PW has a slate of ambitious films including Europa by Kivu Ruhorahoza (in post-production) and Tanzanite by Kantarama Gahigiri (in development).
