Ave ZIFF LAUNCHES A CROWD-FUNDING PROJECT
Transformational Leadership and Pan-Africanism in Zanzibar

A Call has just been launched on ROCKETHUB for funding the Workshop on Pan Africanism to be held at ZIFF during ZIFF 2015. Organised by the LAB Community the three-day workshop, will use the principles of transformational leadership, Pan-Africanism, and mindfulness to empower and engage youth at ZIFF in inclusive action, grounded in the principles and values of equality, justice, caring, acceptance, non-violence, sustainability and cooperation. These are the values espoused by Pan Africanism.
The LAB Community is a group of artists, development practitioners and scholars whose objective is to engage in education for liberation, art and performance to promote holistic development.

Each year, some of the most captivating and cutting-edge cinema from Africa and beyond is screened in venues across Zanzibar during the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF). ZIFF is a truly local festival with international reach and influence with exhibitions, workshops, and cultural tours that take participants to the heart of the community complement films for an integrated experience.
By providing the opportunity for youth to familiarize themselves with influential Pan-African leaders and then harnessing their ability to embody and express ideals through dance and visual art, we hope to create the future of Pan-Africanism right here and now.
ZIFF and the LAB have launched the Crowdfunding Project to enable a team of committed artists, development practitioners and scholars to travel to Zanzibar from around the globe to share their gifts with this community. RocketHub is a great place for innovative thinkers to make their projects a reality, and all the money raised here will go to costs such as flights, accommodation, art supplies, and speakers' honorarium.
Recently, Pan Africanism has come to the foreground following the Xenophobic attacks in South Africa, the attack on Nkhrumah by Tanzania's top Business and Policy spokesperson Ali Mufuruki, and the ongoing deaths of migrants crossing the Mediterranean into Europe. ZIFF will hold public forum during its festival to discuss what others have called the death of Pan Africanism.
