The Dhow Countries Music Academy in Unguja, Zanzibar, with support from the Goethe-Institut and in association with the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, University of Dar es Salaam, will hold the 3rd annual session in a series of workshops devoted to the teaching of the music traditions of Zanzibar. Teacher-participants from Unguja and Pemba, as well as Music Certificate students studying at the Dhow Countries Music Academy will participate in developing materials and methods for teaching the history and uses of music in Zanzibar. Besides developing these materials and methods, the participants will test the effectiveness of what they have developed by going into the schools and working with school pupils and their teachers.
