MUSIC VIDEO LAUNCH

‘Twajiachia celebrates the journey of Tanzanian musicians on the global music scene.’

Twajiachia is a music video by Mzungu Kichaa & Malfred. It was recorded at Tao Records together with their backing band Bongo Beat and producer Flo Bauer during their Europe tour at the end of 2014. The video was directed and shot by Zeki Oguz Teoman during the studio session and on location in the city of Hamburg.

Twajiachia literally means ‘we are letting go’ but in slang it would translate more towards ‘we are having fun’. The chorus ends with the line ‘ngoma likipigwa tuna pata raha tele’ which means ‘when the drum beats, we are filled with joy’.

‘At times we all face hardships and music can be an important tool to help bring back the joy and purpose in life. Twajiachia is meant to do exactly this!’ – Mzungu Kichaa.

The song is an example of the globalization of urban club music: an upbeat fusion between European electronic sounds, Bongo Flava and Jamaican dancehall.

The event will take place at the Paparazzi club located at the Slipway, on Wednesday 17th of June 2015 and will feature live band performances by Mopao Jazz, Mzungu Kichaa and Malfred
