Maxime Jean-Baptiste (1993, FR) is a filmmaker based in Brussels and Paris. Born and raised in the context of the Guyano-Antillese diaspora in France, of a French mother and Guyanese father, his intrest as artist is to dig inside the complexity of western colonial history by detecting the survival of traumas from the past in the present. His audiovisual and performing work is focused on the form of the reenactment as a perspective to conceive a vivid and embodied memory. He has been graduated in Visual Arts (BA) at erg/école de recherche graphique (Brussels, BE) and in Media Arts (MA) at K.A.S.K. School of arts (Ghent, BE), and is now participant of SIC / SoundImageCulture program.
