Fatma Zohra Zamoum is a scriptwriter, director and a producer.
She was born in 1967 in Bordj-Ménaiel in the north of Algeria. After attending the Fine Arts School in Algiers (1985-1988), she went to Paris where she graduated in Art History and Cinematography and Audiovisual Studies from the Sorbonne in 1995.
She lives since then in Algiers and Paris.
"Z'har"(2009) is Zamoum's first feature film, depicting scenes from the violence Algeria experienced in the 1990s. In 2005, she directed a short film"La Pelote de Laine"and has also authored several books including"Comment j'ai fumé tous mes livres"(2006). In 2009 she directed a documentary on Sembene Ousmane work, named"Le docker noir, Sembene Ousmane".
In 2011, she directed and produced a second feature film"Kedach Ethabni (How Big Is Your Love)"and in 2014 she directed and produced a historical docu drama for algerian television.
Since then she is working on new projects among them two films in postproduction:"BODY + ART", a documentary on artists in the 60ties and 70ties and"PARKOUR(S) aka RESET"a feature narrative film.
She has co-created in 2008 a production and distribution company named"Z et Compagnie Productions"(Boumerdes, Algeria).

Fatma Zohra Zamoun curated exhibitions and wrote, amongst others, A tous ceux qui partent (novel, Ed. L'Harmattan, 1999), Comment j'ai fumé tous mes livres (novel, Editions La Chambre d'Echos, 2006, 14 euros), and essays on painting.
