Senegalese French Film Director and scriptwriter.
Born in 1979, in Aulnay-sous-Bois (France). After a Master's in history and a post-graduate diploma in visual sociology, Alice Diop joined the documentary workshop at the Fémis film school. Since 2005, she has directed many creative documentaries, including La tour du monde, Clichy pour l'exemple, Les Sénégalaises et la Sénégauloise, and Vers la tendresse (2016).
Her film La mort de Danton won the Library Award at the Festival du Réel in Paris, the Grand Prix at the Education Film Festival, and the Scam Star in 2012. La Permanence (On Call) won the Prix de l'institut français Marcorelles at the Cinéma du Réel FilmFest 2016. At the Festival de films de femmes de Créteil 2016 in France where it was World Premiered, Vers la Tendresse won the Prix INA réalisatrice créative du meilleur court métrage francophone and the Audience Award fr best French short (Prix du public du meilleur court-métrage français).
