Pierre-Alain Meier

At Thelma Film AG, founded in Zurich in 1988, and Prince Film SA (since 2005), I have produced and co-produced approximately thirty feature length fictional and documentary films for the cinema in various countries including Argentina ("Memoria del Saqueo" and "La Dignidad de los Nadies" by Fernando Solanas), Cambodia ("Rice People" by Rithy Panh), India ("Fire in Paradise" by Markus Imhoof), Senegal ("Hyenas" by Djibril Diop Mambéty), Burkina Faso ("Yaaba" by Idrissa Ouedraogo, "Laafi", "Moi et mon Blanc", "Delwende" by S. Pierre Yameogo), Algeria ("Bab el Oued City" by Merzak Allouache), Romania ("Maria" by Peter Netzer), Greece ("Valkanizater" by Sotiris Goritsas), Italy ("Men of the Port" by Alain Tanner), Switzerland ("Blind Date" by Samir, Christoph Schaub, Marcel Gisler, etc, "Charming Neighbours" by Claudio Tonetti, "Thelma" by Pierre-Alain Meier, "Parting Shot" by Jeanne Waltz, France "Bye Bye" by Karim Dridi, "Karnaval" by Thomas Vincent), Palestine ("Salt of this Sea" by Annemarie Jacir), Chad ("Far from the village" by Olivier Zuchuat), etc.

For the most part, these films were directed by natives of the countries in which they were filmed. Many were co-produced by European partners in France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy and, in a few cases, by on location partners, most often the filmmakers' production companies.

Actually I am producing "More than Honey" from Markus Imhof, filmed in China, USA, Australia and in different European countries, coproduced with zero one film (D) and Allegro Film (A); "Un été brulant" from Philippe Garrel, produced in majority by Rectangle Productions (F), filmed in Paris and in Italy, with Monica Belluci, then "Comme des lions de pierre" from Olivier Zuchuat, filmed in Greece, coproduced by AMIP (F); "Made in China" from Claudio Tonetti, which will be filmed in Jura (Switzerland) and in China, as well as "Walty", a personal project actually being written, which I expect to direct beginning of 2013 in Senegal and Mauritanian.
