The music of the artist, Bonga - which was habitually referred to in the 1980s as "World Music" - has its origins in the rhythms of Angola, a kind of Afro-Brazilian hybrid that has enjoyed enormous success the world over. Various African music producers and musician Manu Dibango introduce us to Bonga's musical language, to his warm, gravely voice, and to his sense of melody. Cesaria Evora did a successful cover of one of Bonga's most haunting songs, "Saudade", written in 1976.
