Sanaa Central
A moving story of three generations of the wealthy Cadet family. Les Terres Entourees des Larmes takes place mostly in the northern Haitian city of Cap Haitien over the course of the 19th century: from the end of the war for Haitian independence to the very beginning of the 20th century. A meditation on Haitian politics, the space between the rich and the poor, love and loss. It is told in an engaging style, at the same time reminiscent of street-style oral storytelling and the elevated French of classic 19th century novels.
