In the north of Morocco, the city of Tetouan is called "Daughter of Granada". Abdelsadek Chekara and his orchestra perform extracts of noubas, the classical repertory of a so nearby and tolerant Andalusia where Christians, Jews and Muslims, lived the Golden Age of Muslim Spain. Chekara, a faithful performer, knows as well how to innovate through providing a bridge between the classical ala, flamenco and chaabi, the folk music of Northern Morocco.
