Afrique 50, whose screening was forbidden in France from 1950 to 1990, was the first openly anticolonialist film in French cinema. This hard hitting attack on French policy in Africa was a virulent pamphlet which the French government tried to suppress by all means possible. It was also René Vautier's first film. Le Petit Blanc à la caméra rouge proposes a rediscovery of this seventeen minute long black and white opus.
